Gordon, Mike, Michael, Tony and Susan worked on 3 homes today clearing back yards. The day started with a nice surprise - Deon Swiggs from Rebuild Christchurch Foundation presented a cheque of $5,000 to Addington Action. The money was raised by a Japanese group, Nippon Volunteer Network Active in Disaster (NVNAD).
So today was clearing, mowing, chainsawing, raking, sorting and smiling.
There will be a break with the working bees while the Addington Action buys a work truck hopefully within a week. Then the truck will go out 7 days a week on jobs with a pool of drivers. The organised residents should be able to get a lot more done for those who need help.
